Health Economics in Public Health

Helen Patterson, Health Economist, Public Health Scotland

Summary of Session:

This talk will provide an overview of health economics in a public health context. We will explore what economic evaluation can contribute to consideration of the benefits of public health interventions, programmes and policies in relation to costs. Key concepts and methods will be explained and critiqued. Examples of work done at PHS will be described. Discussion and questions warmly invited.
