The scoping for the Grow Our Own Specialist capacity is being progressed by Phil Mackie, PH Consultant (NHSG), Pip Farman PH Consultant (NHSH) and Kim Penman, NoSPHN Programme Manager.
The proposed approach has been devised to develop a tailored package of support for identified NoS senior public health professionals to progress their UKPHR specialist registration by portfolio assessment. Four stages of activity have been identified which will be developed iteratively:-
Stage 1 – Information and Insight Gathering/ Parameter Setting
Stage 2 – Co-production of a Support Package
Stage 3 – Implementation
Stage 4 – Evaluation.
An inclusive approach is being taken forward to co-design a package of support that is ‘fit for purpose’. This will involve engagement with a breadth of North of Scotland public health staff who have experience of SPRbPA, recently appointed (last 5 years) new public health consultants and those who meet or are close to meeting the UKPHR criteria to be eligible for the UKPHR specialist registration. This programme was approved by NoSPHN Steering Group in August 2023.
